OLESIA BILYK

PHOTOARTIST
VISUAL STORYTELLER
I live, create, research and document. Working with archives, reportage, art photography - all of this helps me to feel important and fulfill my photographic mission for scholars, artists and the public. My art is born out of personal experience and the historical context in which I live.
PROJECTS
BLOSSOM
(2023-24)
This photo project is my way of making sense of what has been experienced, preserving the memory of those we have lost, and creating a visual narrative about collective trauma and human resilience…

FATHER: THE STORY
OF A LIQUIDATOR
(2023-24)
My father, Serhiy Bilyk, was a liquidator of the Chornobyl accident in 1987. He was called a “suicide bomber” - this is confirmed by a document that shows the dates of his work at the third power unit, in the very center of the disaster…

THE UNKNOWN (2025)
The project is dedicated to the sense of threat that modern people live with. It speaks of the ecological crisis, the fear of nuclear weapons, and the disturbing thought of waking up in a world that is no longer safe for life.

WORKS OUTSIDE THE SERIES
This section brings together works that do not belong to any particular series but remain an important part of my creative output. These are independent expressions — intuitive observations, visual notes, and images that arise in a moment. Here you will find fragments of reportage, artistic photography, portraits, and landscapes.
